Abstract

On revisiting the history, we ascertain the erstwhile rulers of states of Rajputana and Gujarat, the Nizam of Hyderabad and the Viceroy of British India used to travel by these unique and plush coaches. After independence, these distinctive luxury coaches of the trains were parked in abeyance for decades until the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation and Indian Railways decided to develop the idea of running an extraordinary heritage tourist train to offer an incomparable and fabulous experience to the travelers paying a visit to the state of Rajasthan.

Pure Extravaganza

By travelling a train ‘the Palace on Wheels’, one experiences an altogether diverse and unexplainable feeling. The train is fully self-contained and is entirely air-conditioned, comprising of 14 deluxe coaches. All the coaches are well appointed and are furnished with all contemporary facilities meant to have a comfortable daily life and would enable you to experience the grandeur and opulence of bygone royal era. The two coaches are entirely dedicated for dining purpose and the ambience reminds of the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan and each saloon has private attendants at disposal of the guest on board to offer personalized and uninterrupted service. An experience of this nature can’t be erased easily from the engraved memories on the heart and mind of the travellers.

Imperial Services on Board

In all 14 coaches, each coach comprises of

4 cabins attached with washrooms having shower, the kitchen offers an array of Indian, Continental, Thai, Rajasthani and Chinese cuisine. It’s well abounding bar serves Indian liquor and all internationally acclaimed premium scotch, wine and cocktails brands. In order to enhance the relaxation and pleasure quotient of the travelers; the provision to play the light music of choice and fascinating games for children; have been made available in each coach.

Opulence Galore

As you step inside the dazzling coaches and get mesmerized with sheer opulence all over and will find that each compartment demonstrates the enlightening culture of the state, imply through the use of furnishings, handiwork, painting and stunning furniture. The roof in the lounge is of enormous interest. Each coach has been designed differently but the overall décor of the coaches has been done perfectly in line with the theme and concept of splendor and aristocracy. The exterior of the each coach is painted in Cream yellow colour and bears the insignia of the erstwhile princely states.
