The castle of white bird

Jakar Dzong, literally meaning "Castle of the white bird" is located on a picturesque ridge overlooking the Chokhor valley. This fortress with impressive walls, elegant structure and simple interior was built in 1667 and was refurbished in 1683. This fortress is said to be one of the largest dzongs in Bhutan.The entrance leads into the outer courtyard surrounded by administrative offices. Beyond the tower is the inner courtyard surrounded by monks’ quarters.
