Druk Wangyel Chorten
The 108 chorten or stupa of Druk Wangyel Khangzang is strategically constructed high on the Dochula Pass under the patronage of Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck. It was built to commemorate the victory against the Indian insurgency in the year 2003 battle led by the Fourth King of Bhutan in person. The Chortens are constructed in three layers, the first with 45 chortens, the second with 36, and the top layer with 27 chortens built around the primary chorten. Construction started as soon as warriors are back from the battleground and consecrated in June 2004.
