Freak Street || A street in Kathmandu
Freak Street(Jhochhen Tole), presently know as Old Freak Street is a small street located to the south of the Durbar Square. The street received its' nick name due to the presence of strange looking hippies who hung out during the 1960s'. Jhochhen Tole(Freak Street) was the epicenter of the hippies during the Hippie trail from the early 1960's to late 1970s' when Marijuana and Hashish was legal in Nepal and was sold openly in government run hashish shops. Although these things are banned and not available now, still the place holds a unique historical importance.
