Gangkar Punsum Base Camp || Rest day at Gangkar Punsum Base Camp
Gangkhar Puensuum at 7541 meters (24,741 feet) is Bhutan's highest peak and one of highest unclimbed peak in the world. The name, meaning -œthe three mountain siblings-, is derived from it being the source of three major rivers - the Kuru Chu, Chamkhar Chu and Mangde Chu. On this layover day, optional hikes can include trek along one of the local ridgelines or up to the glacial moraine to enjoy better views of all three of the mountain's peaks.
