Nyatapola Temple || The five storied temple

The Nyatapola temple is a five storied temple in Bhaktapur dedicated to goddess Siddhi Lakshmi, the Tantric incarnation of goddess Parvati. This temple is 30 meter tall, the tallest temple in Nepal. This temple was built in 1702 AD during the reign of Kiing Bhupatindra malla. The temple is reached by a stairway flanked by stone figures of the temple guardians.

Each of its five terraces holds a pair of figures. Starting from bottom are the legendary wrestlers, depicted kneeling with hefty maces. Subsequent levels are guarded by elephants with floral saddles, lions adorned with bells, beaked griffons with rams' horns and finally two goddesses - Baghini and Singhini.
