Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center is a rehabilitation center for the Tibetan refugees in Darjeeling. It was established in 1959 so that the refugee could become self-independent and could re establish themselves on a foreign land. The Production of handcrafted items is the main activity of the center and its earning source. The center comprises of an old age home and a orphanage, school for the children, medical clinic, a temple and workshops that produces several items like Tibetan carpet, wood carvings, leather work and other items. They also have a sales outlet within the premises so that if you like you can buy there.
