The hike to Wangditse Temple near Thimphu valley is an easy, scenic journey through pine forests, apple farms, and local homes, perfect for families with children. Along the trail, oak, pine, and rhododendron trees line the path, with occasional views of Buddha Dordenma statue, Tashichoe Dzong, and Thimphu valley. Once at the temple, hikers can either return the same way or continue down to Dechenphodrang Monastery, where they can observe and interact with young monks in training. The hike typically takes between one to one and a half hours.
